Since I was a child, one of my favorite things to read was the monthly section in Reader’s Digest called Laughter Is The Best Medicine. Now, scientists are actually studying the medicinal qualities of laughter. At the very least, it is becoming evident that laughter actually does create neuro-chemical changes in our bodies and it seems these changes are actually healthy!
What sort of changes occur? Muscles throughout our face and body stretch; pulse rate and blood pressure shift; breathing changes so that tissues become more saturated with oxygen; calories are burned. Some research in the field of psychoneuroimmunology is even beginning to show that laughter increases the level of immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies in our blood.
If you’re anything like me, you don’t need science to tell you that laughing simply feels good. In that light, allow me to share with you a video clip that was recently sent my way. If you don’t find this thing funny, check your pulse to make certain you’re still alive.
Enjoy!
